I actually broke my boss' ribs once. We were on the same v ball team
and I set down to bump and he backed up . As I was rising to hit, he turned around to lob and my knee crashed into him. After that my team was called the bonecrushers.
i do hope you feel better soon.

My son cracked some ribs...
He had a nasty wreck landing a jump in a motocross race. He is tough and was in excellent shape but it was still several weeks before it stopped hurting to breathe. The key is, don't overdo it or they will just take longer to heal. As for how long to use the painkillers, two or three weeks should be no problem and I would think you will be able to tell when you don't need them so much. Also, be careful to keep your lungs clear, good luck and take care.
