Comments on Bush's double speak on taxes

You opined, "Bush doesn't want to raise the gas tax because he claims it will hurt the economy. What he ignores is that he's the president that's RAISED THE DEFICIT MORE THAN ALL OTHER PRESIDENT'S COMBINED!!! This has hurt the economy more than any type of tax increase ever could."

I guess you haven't been following the news, such little as the lamestreamers have mentioned, about how rapidly that deficit is being paid off thanks to record tax revenues generated by the economy you belittle. See the story at http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/8/11/90140.shtml?s=mo for the latest - it's been reduced to $157.3 billion, a 34% reduction in a year's time - and my commentary at http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/General/EditPost.aspx?post=482039.

To summarize my analysis of the story, would not the deficit be paid off even faster if the Democrats reduced their record spending as he has asked them to do?

Basic economics - raise the taxes, slow the economy. Lower the taxes, stimulate the economy. The recession that helped produce the deficit you criticize was brought on in no small part by Bubba's massive tax increases, ending years of economic growth traceable to the Reagan tax cuts that remedied Mr. Peanut's national malaise. Bubba and Mr. Peanut? Democrats. Reagan and Bush? Republicans.

It's awkward, but with some editing you can improve it.

please tell me what you think of this poem I wrote

Oh twisted heart and perilous spine

from what depths have you come

with a tainted grin, intentions, un-divine

Engrossing everything you touch

Conscience wiped out and replaced by evil and such

Eyes of glass and feelings of a manequin

making decisions not only for yourself

but also for the masses.

Have you really thought it out, or just following your gut?

Have you a plan to get them out, or are you stuck?

Oh, wretched heart and being of no humility

has the pride overtaken the true meaning of your duty

Can you not hear the souls marching to a resting place, 6 feet under?

Are you that mute and blind or are you just waiting to duck and cover?

We may not be there, but the cries and the tears are too salty to bare,

and the absence of youth, sting us in this uncommitted affair.

So many people cannot be wrong, please find a way,

if not for the right reason...

...at least so that your judgement can be on hold for just one more day!
