I think Mr. Obama was going out of his way to appear hawkish on defense issues. Of course we would take military action against an imminent threat, with or without the support of allies. But to make a point of the possibility of taking action in Pakistan seems an unwise attempt to pander to the hawkish instinct that is still (in spite of the Iraq fiasco) considered prerequisite for serious presidential candidates.
It's annoying (and disappointing) that Democrats feel that to appear tough, they need to beat their chests. Chest-beating is a big part of the problem. That's how we make enemies, not friends.

Chasing the terrorists
Good post! President Bill Clinton had the opportunity to capture bin Laden and failed to act. He was more interested in fooling around with Monica Lewinsky. Nothing should be off the table in fighting these terrorists and protecting American citizens. If we had a sensible immigration policy in this country, the 1993 and 2001 terrorist attacks most likely wouldn't have occurred.
