.Dave. I'd have a great deal of difficulty concealling a thermos flask
without ruining the line of my business suit. They don't fit so well in garters or stocking tops either.

Well, such is life....
Holy_Grail, thanks, I'm just not used to having choices, I can be indecisive in life at the best of times (bar this decision to come to the U.S. which I only doubted once in the two years prior to departure). All these goings on just make me 'tharn' like the rabbits in 'Watership Down'.
Justi, things are going well, and I'm testing the theory of the American dream in a practical manner.
Proc, you're right, sometimes when you get a chance to relax among all the hustle & bustle it creeps up on you though.
Pat_B 'You could well be the cream of the crop', I'm definitely the cream on an Irish coffee anyway!

It's a good job you didn't pass him your old-fashioned flask.

Good luck to you! To use an old cliche', don't look a gift horse in the mouth! Just feel like you're the best woman for the job, and do your best. Like someone else said, you could very likely have been the best of the candidates. Obviously they saw something in you that they liked. And hey, of YOUdon't like THEM, maybe the design job will pan out!!

good luck with being transplanted. Im a transplant too having spent the
first 41 years in Africa. You will always miss home but eventually the pain becomes less or simply manageable or you make so many new friends, get so busy you forget to feel sad.

The thing is, Cringe, you didn't have access to the resume of other
candidates. You could well be the cream of the crop, and have no reason to doubt they've made the right choice. And the hip flask is sure to keep things well oiled and humming. :)

.Dave. when he asked me my hobbies, I passed him my hip flask!
How else do you think I got the job?

Corbin, that's what's keeping me going right now. It's also keeping me
from losing my temper with himself!
In my imagination however, I am clocking him on the head with a mallet, while in reality, the only injuries received are on my part, from biting my tongue.

Talion, I agree with you to a point. I'm just worried it's the distinction
that's winning over experience. I should just shut up, relax, and run with it.

I think you'll be excellent working for a Vice President. You have plenty of vices and I'm sure he'll be delighted with you.

Greetings, Cringe! There was bound to be a difficult period, but you are
halfway there, in your own place now. And look how things are going, with all these offers flooding in. The prognosis looks good!

You're going through some major
events back to back.......both of you are under a lot of pressure......but it sounds like things are coming together......aim for the time when you can look back and laugh about all of the fuss!

Most jobs are no big deal when you really look at them. Brain surgery is one thing. Any type of office work is another. For the latter, a great personality is usually one of the most important aspects, and that's something you can't learn at a fancy university or put on a resume. Also, the fact you're Irish (a real one, not the great grandmother on my uncle's side, let's go drink green beer on St. Patrick's Day variety) is a distinction I doubt your competitors had.
