And yet, not getting enough sunlight (Vit. D) can lead to
bone deterioration. So unless you're getting 15 minutes a day or more of sunlight, it might be wise to take in more D. D is what makes your system absorb the calcium you get in milk, etc., and the govt recently upped the min daily req't from 400 to 1000 units. 400 will prevent rickets, but isn't enough for older people whose ability to absorb is reduced by time.
