Go to Religion in the Modern World

Sunnybeach7 - I have always maintained that religious belief can act as a
vehicle for some people to better themselves.
But the important distinction is that belief in of itself means virtually nothing if the focus is lost on the underlying ideals. Too many people cannot make this distinction. How can someone possibly lie about another person's character as an example, in an effort to demonstrate that the subject of their slander is not to be trusted? The only answer I can come up with is that they have replaced the inherent ability we all should have to tell right from wrong, with belief and non belief as more important qualifiers. That's beyond brainwashed, that's a full frontal lobotomy.

Good question. I'm not sure if I have a good answer, but I think a lot of them slide by without much difficulty. In every workforce there always seems to be at least "one" that has no skills, no brains, sleeps through the shift, etc. etc....and is for some unknown reason "allowed" to get away with it. Why, I have no idea...but likely they are these people.

Sunnybeach7 -It certainly is entertaining but it is also becoming a source
of great concern.
There's just too damn many of them. I don't know your thoughts on this, but being able to distinguish fantasy from reality is to me, an important life survival skill. Which begs the next question . . . how do they survive? Is life that easy for some people that they can do it with the support of invisible friends? . . . I've always needed to have real friends, (my entire life) . . . so that I can always claim to be the sanest person in the room.

The antics of some of these "religious" people is entertaining.
You only need to see a few comments to realize that some of these folks are a few clowns short of a circus.

Antonionioni - it's particularly sad when the person with all the answers
is approaching middle age.
We can forgive young people for being naive. None of us were born mature but at what stage in life does a person either realize that this world is comprised of a multitude of differing religious opinions or be branded a fool?

How true, Gome, how true.
Phew, this 'I've got all the answers' stuff is indeed a naive stage of personal development.
