LOL, I was about to say, that writing in this blog
makes you somewhat of a writer, but you clinched the ending. I think you're getting there. Just keep at it.

Good question and one I wouldn't want to ruin with an answer....but as I

cannot get off god damned Blogit I will continue in my old-fashioned way and waffle on a little.

First - I keep hearing about this book TKAMB and I am now determined to go and get that book this week and read it. Well, I left school @ 16, but when I was 16 and still at school, the other English class was reading this book and our English class was reading either Lord Of The Flies (W. Golding), or, Brave New World (A. Huxley) and I really wanted to read the other book, I never knew why. So I will now go and get it.

As for writing: I tried and did give up this silly business once, but somehow the pen was resurrected and out it all came. This was after I survived a near-fatal car crash at the beginning of 2006 in Narre Warren, Victoria, Australia. Once again I transcended death and rose like a Phoenix from the Ashes and walked free. The car (BA FALCON 2003 model) was a complete and utter write-off except where I was sitting - strange I know. But this is when it all changed with me. Before the crash I had struggled with a novel, Screenplay, a Children's book and many lyric-type pieces however, I just was not inspired and it seemed I was forever running East looking for a sunset. I was negative, hated my job, argued with people often and never saw anyone's POV, drank alcohol on a daily basis - yes, a lot of it and Sunday night was just like a Friday, It didn't make a difference to me. After the crash, a cloud was lifted from my being and it seemed the demons had been chased away and this is when it all started to flow. So here is the secret to be passed on to you:

To be truly inspired you need to trade in your cleverness for a state of bewilderment. Sounds funny, but try it. Find the awe in seeing a leaf fall from a tree in front of you, knowing it is a sign. Try to get rid of fear - all types of fear and there are many in disguise: anger, hatred, unforgiveness, nastiness are all forms of fear. Next, treat strangers as though they were long lost friends, you will learn much. Get rid of "more is better" because it is not. Endlessly give things away to friends and strangers, as though it were the last hours of you life. You see, what this will do is open you right up to the INFINITE possibilities that surround you that possibly you may not have noticed because of the afore mentioned fears. Try not to be a bundle of conditioned responses, this also helps the creativity flow. When one is free mentally there is a lot of "spare" energy, and where attention goes (as you know) energy flows. Trust me, EVERYTHING is waiting inside you to become an accomplished and confident writer. I can write for hours without writers' block - it may not be the greatest on the planet, but that doesn't matter, for the more material you have, the better equipped you are with resources to boil down into a substancial body of work.

So GO FOR IT and do not let anyone stand in the way. And most importantly DO NOT do it to please others and worry if they may or may not like it. Think about this, Do you believe the GREAT MOZART would have composed over 600 works if he was running around Vienna etc worrying what people thought? No. He died at age 35! Now, beat that. Anyways sorry to go on. I must away and get to sleep. Talk soon, SSS.

Mocking Bird is a great book. Plus, out and about once, I actually came across a parent calling 'Scout' to her kid. I wondered whether she'd been named in honour.

As for writing - passion for me. As for your writing, just keep doing it. Like anything, practice makes perfect.
