Thank you for your understanding. I don't know if there's a whole family of them somewhere but I just hope to never hear one "scream" again. It was Watership Down for real! It's a good thing whales don't live in yards. My cat would go after one of those, too. I'd be a real mess then!

You are so right! I wonder why they vomit on my rug?  I'm afraid to walk out of this room - I just heard one heaving! (I feed them sensitive stomach and I guess I should be happy. Touchy little creatures!)

Cats are probably the least domesticated domestic animals.
They are never more than two seconds away from pure predator status. This may also be true of humans, but we have more tricks to conceal or suppress this instinct.
