al Qaeda in Iraq is a splinter group of the international al Qaeda and is
affiliated only slightly, according to intelligence reports. It is very small and not overly effective. It's basic premise for existence is to disrupt the Coalition's mission in Iraq and to destabilize the "puppet" western-styled government in Baghdad. If you've noticed, most of the incidents that al Qaeda in Iraq claim have been at fomenting inter-sectarian rivalry.

He was making a point. Stating the obvious that a lot of the opposition
don't seem to grasp. At least he's smart enough to know that "Al-Qaeda in Iraq" is actually Al-Qaeda... in Iraq. A lot of protesters argue Al-Qaeda in Iraq has nothing to do with Iraq.
