People (strangers) have stopped me to

tell me how polite my children are.  When my son was a junior in high school (about two years ago), he looked like what most adults would stereotype as a problem kid---hair to the middle of the back, a bit smart alecky.  But I'd have neighbors whom I'd never met make a special trip to my home to tell me that they couldn't get over that this boy would go out of his way to say hello, talk to them, help them with bags, plow more snow than I can tell you, etc.  He always holds doors, and come hell or high water, they both know that when you walk in front of someone in a grocery aisle, you say excuse me.  I don't see adults nowadays who are that polite.  I'm pretty happy.

You think they aren't paying attention to you...then they grow up and you see them in action, and you find out they really were listening AND MORE IMPORTANTLY watching!

I started thinking about this at work when everyone I see are so poliet but they are in the older gneration, its kind of like goes back to the language they use, it all comes back to what they see and are around.  But todays kids arent raised by their parents but surrogate parents.  To me its a little bit of greed here

I think children of today will only know what they have been taught...It's very sad state of affairs when common everyday manners are ignored...What will the world be like in another 20 years without them? I can say I am thankful my children have manners, but I have noticed a trend in the generation right afterwards and their lack of them....
