sannhet - thank you - and it does in fact include all concepts of God
It becomes little wonder that most religions never seem able to bridge the gap between their definition of God and their collective actions on their God's behalf. It may take several more centuries before our species reaches the level of self reflective honesty that allows us to put religious agenda aside and simply admit that there are some things we will never understand.

Xeno-x - that's really the long and short of it - we are as a species

collectively ignorant of our origins and may always remain so.

Compounding that ignorance with religious agendas and inherent dishonesty impedes any chances we have of lifting this cloud of collective ignorance. To join partisan camps and form sides in a debate where one side is arguing from a position premised upon mythical religious constructs against the other side that has some facts but a lot more questions, is in a word; ridiculous. Organized religion rides again, asking us all to dumb it down on their behalf simply because they are unable to come up to speed with a modern world that isn't reconciling their ancient beliefs.

There is no Evolution versus Creationism "debate".  In reality, there is only a large mass of people attempting to impede scientific progress simply because they cannot handle the reality of segments of what they believe being made redundant by facts.

Gome -
Excellent post! As Xeno said, our universe is way to complex to even begin to make any sense of it. And that includes any concepts of "God".

VERY GOOD
this demonstrates that the entire concept == inquiry into where we came from -- the entire universe -- is so totally complex as to be incomprehensible.

when we accept that we know less than 1% about the whole thing, then we will make great strides towards understanding a whole lot more.

the problem with some evolutionary scientists is that they, like religionists, establish what they consider to be unmoveable dogma; then, when their pet concept is smashed into a million pieces, this raises doubt in many minds and bolsters the arguments of creationists.

but when we talk about "missing links", we are looking at a half empty glass, rather than half full.  discoveries of new fossils and other evidence add to the picture, which by its very nature will probably remain, at best, less than half complete -- and it is this incompleteness that raises doubts.

and about carbon based cells -- organic (albeit not living) molecules are said to be extant throughout the Universe.  methane, etc. -- the building blocks of life -- they can be found on the moons of the outer planets -- and I read somewhere that huge clouds of these float through empty space -- and it was a somewhat unimpeachable source.

but there indeed seems to be a gap --

but, like the fossil missing link, maybe it has yet to be discovered, just like an intelligent alien being has yet to be met and that encounter verified by reliable sources, etc.

My head hurts now. Have you heard of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Gome? Talk Like a Pirate Day is part of their creationist calendar. Marvellous. I'm not being flippant either. It's as good a theory as any.
