A good writer to me is someone who manages to convey his or her thoughts
on whatever s on hsi or her mind, most effectively to the audience that is targetted.

I agree. Passion is required in most things to be successful.

Comment on What Makes A Writer?
William Faulkner, the author of many books, once was asked his "secret" to writing and his believable characters.  His reply:  " I just set them on a journey, then walk beside them, keeping my mouth shut, and listening to them."

Anyone who has good communication skill can be a writer and of course
he has to be well observant of his subject and must have passion to express his feelings .
