We train their army and they retain their tribal and religious affiliations anyway, it's thier culture, so save the trouble of Basic Training and just send the sheiks the money to begin with.

Maj, for more insanity, today I read that the Americans are now paying Sunni "volunteers" to man check points and handle security in some tribal areas. BUT, the Iraqi army, that we paid BILLIONS to train and arm ... we now "can't trust them" as quoted by Army officers as the Iraqi Army has started facing down Americans and threatening to kill them. What INSANITY...How can those poor American soldiers exist in that atmosphere of distrust and intrigue. It's bad enough fighting a war when you KNOW your enemy.

We have not only lost our bid to control olil resources as a counterbalance to Saudi control, but to help continue to keep gasolione and diesel cheap at the pump, but now we have prodded Russia and will once agaoin have a Cold War to create a need for inflated government and its spending on both sides.
PS: Don't tell the jihaddists and their handlers that violence never settles anything. They're doing just fine, thanks. Ditto the Viet Cong, the 1979 "students" in Iran (did you know "Taliban" can mean "student"?), and the western Europeans who wrested control of the land we are sitting on this moment from the aboriginal occupants.
