You made a good point
Sometimes you wonder what is going. Comedy is comedy is comedy, but sometimes people go overboard. Also, sometimes you have a person who is known for one thing (in this case comedy), and that's probably why they got the show. But, the pressure to deliver a joke may outweigh the quality of the show.
At the end of the day, people who disagree with the approach are usually outweighed by those who are begging for more of the same.
