Your tale is sobering, my friend. And far too many people today have
similar experiences (but not the same, never the same).  I do not know the darkness you've experienced, but, through your words, I can see and hear and feel it vicariously.  And maybe your writing can be a catharsis, help you navigate your personal darkness, gain strength against it, and rest... Take care.  Please, write on...

Sad thoughts...
For those who have experienced things similar to what you have often find themselves dreading the time when their mind is not theirs to control. I have no words that could possibly offer an intimate understanding of what it is you suffer. How could I, when I have not suffered as you? All I, or anyone, can offer is our acceptance and understanding that you did what you had to do to prolong your life. It is human nature to do what you did, and to feel what you felt. Make no mistake, anyone else would have were they in your shoes. As for those who would die so that you could live, honor their memory, miss them, love them. Forgive yourself the loss of them. Their sacrifice was done for the most noblest cause of all. For love.
