I'm Walkin'
Una cervesa, por favor!
That's all I remember from two semesters of Spanish, but if you know that and "Bottled water only, please" you're pretty much set, so I'm 50% there. Great to have you back!

whim and maj, thanks for stopping by. I took up street walking as a child, usually because I had jumped off of my bike and let it crash, needing repairs.
My parents took me to Mexico as a child and we were very poor and walking is one joy for the poor. We wandered the streets and marketplaces and stopped and talked to people or listened to street musicians or admired artists' wares.
I walked the streets of Chicago one autumn, San Francisco one summer, Washington, D.C. one year, and too many other places to mention. Street walking is an art and I do believe that I have perfected it. Poverty made me develop this art to its utmost.
Maj, your Omaha sounds a little like "California Dreamin'" by the Mamas and the Papas. Mommas and Poppas? It is a favorite song with me because of its street walking theme.

You go, Granny (don't hit me, don't hit me!).
My street walking days were in Omaha the summer and autumn-early winter of 1981, to and from school and Greyhound bus station with books or personal effects. Heat. Autumn leaves. Rain. Snow. Icy hills. Slightly different. I feel a blog coming on...naw, just a sneeze.
Your prose brings it alive.
