Lilane - I think the news, especially in the US (unfortunately) is way too
much. I agree with the over and over bit, we have this a little in Canada, but not like the American press. Like many other things, it seems to have become big business.

Lustor...
Everything is glamorized in the media now. I mean Chris Benoit (Wrestler) is now thought to have smothered his 7 year old son, strangled his wife and then hung himself. They did a whole show on WWE memorializing what a great man he is. Hello? He just killed his family and himself! It's just amazing.
The case of this poor woman and her unborn child is just disgustingly tragic. I think in her case however they were really trying to find her so they splashed it everywhere. Now that it has had an ending of sorts...we go back to the media frenzy over every minute detail of her death.

The way the media covers the 'news' hasn't changed
It's the technology has changed. The news 'media' has always tantalized the bad news, because that's what sells. People won't stick around to see who got the cat out of the tree, but they'll wait to see what kind of person threw it up there.

Good Morning L.....These stories are covered because we have 24/7 news
coverage and that is why all the "Bullshit" news is covered too, like Paris Hilton, etc. When there was only a half hours news like in our younger days they only reported the important stuff. I am not saying that this woman's death was not important but people are getting killed every minute of every day. They just pick and choose which stories to cover. I used to have either CNN or MSNBC on in the background when I am home but not anymore. I am boycotting the news (especially since all the Paris Hilton coverage) and only watch the half hour national news and local news at night.

RE: DOES MURDER SEEMED GLAMORIZED?
Depends on the sadistic nature of the murder. Consider "Jack the Ripper"; his grisly tale is a constant recycle of material. The bloodier the better. j

The news can beat and DO beat stories into the ground...I suppose today will be all about Paris Hilton getting out of jail and how grateful she is to have found Jesus. Hell I didn't know he was lost in the LA county jail...Geez!
