As always an excellent post...
Inside of us all resides a place in our hearts that holds the pain of life's disappointments. Letting go of the pain is not the solution, contrary to what most would have you believe. To let go is to deny the reality of life, it is not all sunshine and happiness. Life is filled with pain, anger and guilt, just as it is filled with joy, wonder and happiness. Many people will tell you that you are wrong to hold onto your negative feelings, but I must disagree. Without those negative feelings, how then could we appreciate the positive? My only hope for both you and your friend is that by living the life you have despite the pain of your past, you will find the peace that you seek. Don't miss out on the gifts life gives you while you search for your peace though. You never know what gift might be holding the very thing you seek. My heart goes with you on your journey... May you have a steady wind always at your back, and God's light to shine down to light your way.
