The truth is plain...those who rose before Christ arrived.
Please can you show me where I have said that we can do this on our own....

To become sanctified, you have to be MADE Holy. Only divine hands can do this.

If what you say is true, then perhaps I have read incorrectly the following scripture:

Among those Born of Woman, there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist.

(Matt 11:11)

John the Baptist was before Christ and the scripture is quite explicit in what it says.

How did John the baptist manage to do achieve this state before Christ??

The Bible teaches that we are born in a state of sin (fallen) and there is
absolutely nothing we can do in our own efforts to "rise" or ascend into something else. It is all through Christ, the only Begotten of the Father, the Savior that we can obtain, by faith," the promise that one day we will be made perfect.  The Bible says in 2 Thes. 4:16 and 17 that when Christ returns the mortal (fallen) man will be given immortality and our bodies will be then made perfect.  This doesn't mean we must sin and repent and sin and repent.  We should strive to be overcomers, as the Book of Revelation says...but we cannot do it on our own.  We have to remember that Christ is not only our example, but our substitute.  Our sinlessness and perfection is in Christ, not self.

Sotarios

I always think of the term “fallen” as someone who has lost their way, lost their purpose, or misplaced self love. A fallen soul/person is temporarily broken but can always get back on the/their path and resume the pursuit of knowledge and joy. Sometimes they just need the helping hand of a higher power or a loving friend.
