Cynthia, Halliburton was in Texas because it was built on oil, too.
The first six months (winter and spring) we lived in Lincoln Nebraska we lived twelve miles west in the former base housing for the former Lincoln AFB, the bus came once an hour and there was no sheltered bus stop. We saved up and my sister and bro in law sold us their souped up two year old '78 Nova, but I had to pick it up in California and get it back home before school was back in.
Not smart to turn a guy loose in a beefed-up Chevy 305 V8 driving cross country after he's undergone detox from driving emergency vehicles (not to mention a bus ride from Lincoln to Victorville, CA, shaving in bus depot restrooms and eating Granola bars). No tickets (I played "Dodge the Smokie"), but almost ate lightning on day 1 and almost ate a big porcupione at 70 mph in the Rockies at 3 AM the next day.

Re: Re: Re: Even if there were some sort of ceasefire or "victory"...
Maj - I never thought about bagels in quite that way. They have earned a new respect and much higher place on the food chain in my mind.
And why did you have to drive from Provo to Lincoln in one day???
And Halliburton is in Dubai because Dbai is built on money and oil...I know you knew that maj;-)

Re: Re: Even if there were some sort of ceasefire or "victory"...
OOPs, sorry, accidentally found your comment. Excuse the delay.
Bagels are the most durable breadstuff, after Twinkies. And, the staff of life. I once drove from Provo, Utah, to Lincoln, Nebraska, in one day eating only dried broken up egg bagels and sipping Gatoradce through a tube I ran from a thermos up my seatbelt harness.
So Halliburton's running away from a Demo congress to Dubai! Must send them some bagels....

Even if there were some sort of ceasefire or "victory"...
If foreigners do it for them, it will be repudiated.
The basic assumpton, that Saddam's subjects would reinact the liberation of Paris once out troops were into Bahgdad, was wrong and from this nand a need for a better control on the oil supply all else stemmed.
That, and bagels.

Let humanity think who this President was who caused such a
damage to the entire world just because he thought that what he was doing was right and no one in this world could do anything .
