When a person 'suddenly' asks for a divorce, it surprises their spouse. However, it may not be a 'sudden' problem; it was probably a hidden problem or an ignored problem. Often it is too late.

Very practical and wise road map to a successful marriage . what
happens when you know the person for twenty five years and then suddenly the spouse starts disliking ?

Pat, thanks for the comment. I hope you don't think Ingram was talking to teenagers, though. This radio series was meant for adults. Teenagers do the same thing and they get burned too...the mystery is why we continue this behavior as adults when it obviously doesn't work.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature works against your sensible advice.
Instant attraction, lust we mistake for love, the "blind" fall -- all designed to keep the species going, to bring babies. The social constructs, families, marriages, etc., are man-made attempts to control the natural order. Which is why it's so difficult to get teen-agers to see the big picture, to think about consequences.
