- Go to Jerry Falwell, Intolerance Personified
If he hadn't been such a fomenter of division and hate, Gramsci, his
ridiculous tirades would almost be laughable...

We are a most tolerant nation, missjohn. We suffer fools like Falwell
because we cherish the right of freedom of expression and are sometimes forced to tolerate intolerance as the price...

Well, we tolerate everything else, so why not Jerry?
That's what makes this a free country.

I'm willing to bet, Rocky, that there will be far fewer tears shed for this
"man of god" than some would think. He wore his character like rusted and decrepit armor...

Hi Saul...This is one person I am not sorry to see go. I say bless his soul
but good riddance to the person he was. He did nothing but polarize our country and help to put the religious right front and center in politics. There will be no tears shed by me!

All great self-righteous quotes of a mind which does not have respect for

Jerry Falwell was indeed a mouthpiece, Glennb. And, like it or not, he
spoke to and for the Christian right, which is generally populated by ultraconservative, sometimes fundamentalist, evangelical Christians in America. He didn't speak to and for them all, but he spoke to and for enough of them to have political clout. And of course corporate America and the media stage dialogues between the extremes -- there is no argument or controversy in the middle...

Saul_Relative,
Corporate media's only contribution to society has been the ability to focus spotlight on the extremist of every persuasion. The man was loud mouth cover for people who want to enslave others. Who did he speak to or for? What is a "Christian Right"? I am fed up with the slogans!
