Going to college was not a great thing either because most of what is a cure today had not been discovered. In the 30, 40 & 50s there were many deaths from polio I was in college when they discovered the cure. I remember the first time one was not expected to die from pneumonia because penicillin had been discovered. In 1918 eight of my mother's cousins died of flu and that could happen again from bird flu unless they find the cure first before it reached those proportions.

I don't know your age but I am 71 things have really changed in my life time. But my parents had the largest changes I think. My father was born in 1898 and my mom in 1900. The house I live in was built in 1904 and it had an indoor bathroom in the original foot print.
