I believe there is a similarity between kookaburras and the Irish thought I am yet to hear a kookaburra say "tanks a million" but they both seem to like a "crack."

Thanks for the musical rendition LLM. I'm most impressed that you know the song. Sorry to disappoint but "you little bloody beauty" is a general type of celebratory acclaimation comparable to saying "hooray" .. it's generally said when life provides some good fortune like having vegemite on toast or seeing your team win the Grand Final or winning the loto. The "you" in the expression is directed towards the universal providential process that has brought about the happy circumstance which one is enjoying. For example the next time you're enjoying one of those flavoured coffee drinks you rather like you might say "you little bloody beauty" or if you want some variation you could say "you bloody ripper." The precise meaning of "ripper" needs further research though I think it's related to a far lesser used nasally related expression "rip-snorter" whose origins also need further research.

When I was very little, our teacher taught us the song about the kookaburra  being the merry, merry king of the bush but she failed to tell us what a kookaburra was.   For a long time, I pictured a little man something like an Irish leprechaun sitting in a bush laughing.

That's too funny.   I want to clarify that I'm laughing with you not at you, as I'm not a mocking bird.      Melody

I'm close to being a YouTube addict myself.  Does that mean I am one?

Be well,
