It should not matter at all to the observer.  The only one's that matter about the age difference should be the two involved.  If it matters to one of them, then they really should reconsider before becoming too involved.  I must admit that sometime after I was divorced at 50, I refused to date a fellow that I really liked simply because he was nearly twenty years younger than me.   Why did it matter to me?  I don't know, but it did.

Age shouldn't matter, but I sometimes wonder when I see great differences, twenty years or more, especially if one has considerable wealth. For me specifically, age doesn't matter at all. My wife is twelve years older than me.

I'm in agreement that age shouldn't matter, and it doesn't matter who
is younger or older....

Some age faster than others naturally; but age is not the key in marriage,
in my opinion.  Actually, I doubt if man and woman were meant to spend a lot of years together.

You re so right. An aunt is 10 years older than her husband and they are
still happily married 30 years later.  Of course when they were having marital problems everyone blamed it on the age gap.  What nonsense.  Million of so-called perfect matches end in divorce.

Sonny,
I recently did an intepreting job for an ex foreign officer who was assigned to work at the US Embassy in Rome in the 60s...it's the only country he lived in which he regularly visits again and again. No one get's tired of it!

Age isn't a big deal.
I, as probably most people not associated with Hollywood, would agree with you. I have several coupled friends were the woman is older than the man, and nobody really cares. It's not really the age, but the maturity that counts. What you both bring to the relationship is what you both come away with; good, bad or indifferent. By the way, I toured Italy and half a dozen other European countries while I was stationed in Germany thirty years ago. Good country, good people, GREAT food! Some day I'll make it back.

Yes, I did know this about the Prophet, but I guess modern society had its influence...

Awwww thank you Wiley!!!
Honestly, I love teaching - it's as natural to me as breathing. Though right now I'm going to embark on another, more lucrative job until September (working as a tour guide around Sicily) I'll never get the teaching bug out of me -many of my old students thank me to this day. Irish and Italian? Irish and Sicilian would be more like it - hot-headed, passionate island people!

I agree with you in holding that age should not matter in a relationship.
Prophet Mohammad was approached for a marriage by Khadija his first and most beloved wife when she was forty five and Mohammad was 21 years old .Yet , the Muslims nowadays do not marry older women than themselves.VEry strange. Good post.
