Thanks...
...When I was out to sea on my submarine, my son's mother (my former spouse) would place him on her knee as a toddler, put a large photo of me in his hands, and play him tapes I had made before departure. She would also record these sessions so I could participate in them upon my return. I also recorded my reading a favorite book so he could continue to benefit from our "interaction" during my absences. It made a HUGH difference in how he developed as a man later in life.

A parent is a parent
This is great stuff, and accurate. I once read a book on growing up without a Father. The findings were that it is harder on girls, then boys. Overall though, it was harder on both growing up without the maternal parent. Realistically, I feel that if a parent offers enough love and "quality" time with a child, it will make a difference. If a child feels unwanted, It is definately going to affect their life as a child right into adulthood. Feelings of low self-esteem, not worthy, and inferiority complex's go with this territory. It also heavily relies on the intelligence level of the child and how they percieve the said missing parent.

I could not keep my comment brief...

...in fact, it insisted on being nearly a full page long. So I moved it to Editormum's Oddments. Feel free to visit and comment.
