If I'm not mistaken, Joe Clark was a principal at an inner-city school
and there was a movie made about his defiance against the drug dealers and gang-bangers infesting his school. Can't remember for sure which movie it was...

It's really hard to say, Straightforward. There are many variables. Many
are trying to pin it on his childhood, where he was bullied and ostracized. It seems that he was ridiculed for his speech most of his life. (Personally, I think that is why he chose Norris Hall to perpetrate most of his crime -- it was a foreign languages building.) Anger, resentment, helplessness built up within an insecure boy, exploded in the delusionally empowered man trying to compensate for feelings of personal and social inadequacy. I'm sure that is not the all of it. Given his high intelligence, there must have been added frustration and anger at not being able or allowed to exhibit that intelligence (his speech) in order to defend himself. And we don't know what his home life as a child was like, the expectations of his family, their general dispositions, the makeup of his household. As I said, Straightforward, there were many factors at work here. I'm sure no single primary root exists.

Joe Clark had the right idea many years ago. He chained the doors to keep out the bad people and was arrested.
