Well, that was quite the series!  You brought the world in through so many areas.  Philosophy, literature, history, culture, language.......about the only thing missing was medicine.  An absolutely fascinating piece of work.  Every paragraph sent my mind reaching for reserarch materials, a pen to take notes.  Well done!  --Mary  P.S.  I'm bug-eyed now!

nautikus i spent three hours in writing to you words of god and prophet about peace but due to the bad system which in the comments box when i post it disappeared  as the net was not availabe  here but i thanks god this also prove that me as a muslim i do not feel contradiction in my faith and the disappearance of my subject  as you say that god has to support us, it is exam from god about my sincerity it teaches me to be more patient so i will try to spend another few hours when i will get  time thanks

now as good bother do you have any advice how to return it back ..just be honest with your self if you know that there is away to return it back ..are you ready to tell me now this exam for you between your self if you are real and a true human being or you prefere to leave me suffering for more few hours ,for me the truth from very honest heart i will tell you the way ......and by the way this talk it  came spontanously i didnot think about it till it was written by it self ...are we really humanbeing brother????????????????????????

i didnot read your previous articles i respond for some points here

neautikus... thank you for your manners which may be better than so many ..why iam saying that ..i tried to search in the net then i found things which cause the human being to weep for the hatred which is filling the hearts toward mohammed who put jesus in the highest level for muslims +all the prophets ....oh how much we need to change or explain for people to understand...the hate my friend is  not due to actions which is going on these days but due to hate for god for religions .....

each sura or part in koran it came due to some situation or cause so do you know why no 28 was send to mohammed ....

you remembered this part  only but you forget that god say you will find the most closest to muslim  are christian ...i promise you to find for you the answers ....

i'm just surprised if you say that god call for that so what do you do in your turn ....you are throwing oil on the fire ..you are increasing the hate but my hope that the open minded the true human being will always be more than other parts .......

for whom who read  again i say all what is going on is due to political problems if the middle east problem will be solved  then that time every body will be satisfied and no one will choose the violent way ..arab and muslim people didn't start the unfairness toward the world but it was started toward them ...thanks ...salam and love for the true human beings

droolah, you haven't read the entire series, or you fail to understand it..

In any case , if you had read and understood it, I would not have to quote again:

Fight against such of those to whom the Scriptures were given as believe in neither God nor the Last Day who do not forbid what God and His apostle have forbidden and do not embrace the true faith, until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued. (9:28)

This is just one example of the kind of language in the Koran that is used to justify terrorism. Unlike the New Testament, Mohammed's writings (and those of the other contributors) encourage ongoing warfare against and hatred of the 'infidel'.

And whether God has 99 names or 114 is utterly irrelevant to the issue, as is my complete lack of Arabic...

when you shout in a verbal debate, you generally have a weak case. In a written debate, there is usually an inverse correlation between the size of your letters and the soundness of your argument. To put it in simpler terms for you, the larger the letters, the weaker the argument; if, in fact, there is one at all. You're welcome...

Thanks for extensive comment. You're correct in saying that there are many similarities between the Old Testament and the Koran. However, the O.T. describes a tribal religion that does not lay claim to universality. The Koran is a tribal religion which does. The writers of the O.T. did not want the whole world to become Jewish, but good old Mohammed wants the whole world to be Islamic. That's just one important difference! I also agree that what we should probably call the "average Mo" doesn't like the violence either, as I have pointed out myself, although he would like an Islamic world...

The problem is that I don't like an Islamic world, and I can guarantee you that you won't either...

And if the Big Guy is still in charge, I wonder whose side he is on...

I came in at the tale end but Im impressed and will catch up on the

other posts in the series.  But each post is strong and clear enough to stand on its own.   I always thought the God of the old testament was rather harsh and even cruel.  It was the new testament with Jesus arrival that Chritianity as we know it was born. The old testament and the koran are very similar.

I have been following along reading behind the scenes .. this has been a very interesting thing to read.  I can imagine it was a bit like feeling through the dark .. wading through some of the religious writings. But you have brought out some very well articulated points. Thank you for all of the effort you put into this post Naut. I truly appreciate your work.

Just some observations:
~ The old testament of the Bible contains several books detailing the atrocities of the nation of Israel towards the people who resided in their 'promised land' when they were led out of bondage from Egypt. That was of course a long time ago.. but an example of religious fervor. You've mentioned the crusades and the horror that was and now we have this.. this Islamic wave of 'terror'. I am in no way any sort of world history scholar and I may be terribly naive.. but it seems like a pattern that will always be repeating itself in one form or another. The latest is perhaps better equipped to spread chaos with modern technology..just a thought.

~I live in the US as you know.. and after reading this series and your other on the Islamic Tsunami, as well as most of the book you suggested America Alone (I'm not quite finished with it).. I can see that the picture you are painting with this information can not be stressed enough for western civilization. The world as we know it in the west is rapidly changing right under our noses. If we are to understand anything this information is real... as real as the God of our fathers. I truly don't think that the "average Joe" Muslim condones  any of the violence that is being used to further the cause of some, but their silence, like that of the mass of Christians is perhaps more deadly for all of us.
~Having said all of that.. I know the Big Guy is still in charge..

It is a shame that more attention wasn't given to the series.  You did a remarkable job of establishing what you wanted to say......you then led us down the path directing us through the gardens of information you wanted us to harvest....the whole time moderating things from a position "outside the box".

I do appreciate the huge amount of work you put into this series.  And look forward to whatever journey you choose to take us on next.........

I appreciate the time and attention you spent trying to clarify truth - as opposed to blind opinions most of us hold when we haven't troubled to investigate the issues for ourselves.  Again I wonder if it wouldn't be marketable as a book.  Love the last word, too.  :)
