you are completely correct in saying that randomness is no longer
fully operating in the selective process of evolution, but I feel compelled to point out (especially for those who overlook your qualifier 'fully'), that at the cellular level random mutations occur frequently, sometimes apparently induced by factors such as gamma radiation etc.! Of course, in most cases they don't 'stick'...

Xeno-x - I have had people right here on Blogit come up with some of the
most ridiculous things concerning the theory of evolution.
Their favourite approach is referring to evolution as an "accident" while adding more than a little condescention to their suggestion. To a person, I have yet to meet one of these folks that knows what they are talking about, they are like mimicking monkeys, spewing what they feel is a solid argument but never realizing how ignorant they are of what they speak. It is a little disconcerting to find so many people backing a religious agenda that does nothing more than promote ignorance.
