Did you realize that this date was my birthday when you wrote that?
I know you forget... I started pulling emails off for storage, so I don't have them all, but most (the rest are printed or on a floppy). Not roses?  Sunflowers. :)   Four days after that email you told me you had to go to Iraq.  Exactly one month from that, May 11, 2004, I got your first email from Baghdad.  Now, I may have to do it all over again with my husband... this time, in combat. He's not the letter writer you are, and he won't have a computer to chat with me every morning. He won't be in the Green Zone. What else has changed is you know you are capable of things you weren't sure you were then, and you felt what true love felt like, even in complicated and drastic circumstances. Lavender letters from LouAnn. We should still publish our letters. ;)  I'm sorry I haven't been able to catch up with you, and I wanted to say it meant so much that there was even a poem about me and my supportive ways... even if you can't find it. That made me feel good. April was a very rough month. And you, stop poking yourself in the eye.

Strat, the magazine is on indefinite hold while I learn this job and come
to terms with being broke. Also, I think my partner and I are going to take it into a more artistic direction rather than the straight up adventure direction. That takes more capital than I have.

Actually, it reminds me of my grandfather.
He was a surveyor in the low country down here, but instead of redneck hippies, he constantly ran across (or more likely, sought out) bootleggers and moonshine stills. Had all kinds of low friends in high places.

Cool, cool post.

How's the magazine going?

I love the way you describe people and places.
If you had a collection of short stories, I'd buy it!

I'd like to know what they buried, too.  Sounds creepy.  Ah yes, that last gasp of winter.....- --Joy!Mary

It snowed a little in here in Dallas today. Go figure. I wish I'd never deleted all of my old blogs....Enjoyed your post as always.  You always throw down a dead-on ending.

I think they should have stayed in TN.  They got to OK just in time for the dustbowl.

Freemanwalking......The Band, Allman Brothers and Credence......Shoot

I'm a redneck hippie? LOL  I love those groups! I once saw the Allman Brothers in concert and Greg Allman was so coked up they performed for seven hours straight. Ah, the good old days! LOL

TAPS - I wouldn't leave it at all. Despite the cold TN is by far the
greenest state I've ever been in. Of course its got the ticks too. I got covered up with them Monday when it was warm. They tend to congregate in cow pastuers

Rcky - not much difference, they all share a healthy respect for The Band,
the Allman Brothers, and Credence. My version of hippies likes a little of the Hag now and then as well.

What a great post.  It sounds exactly like Tennessee.  I can say that because my dad's people came from there.  LOL

Hi Freemanwalking.....I enjoyed this post and a new relationship sounds

exciting! One thing, I don't think I ever heard these two words together...redneck and hippie. Redneck hippies???? Now what is the difference between them and us plain ole mountain hippies? LOL  Uh, I did purchase one of Jeff Foxworthy's books..is that a consideration? LOL
