We have always been told to be polite to everyone.
Sadly enough this attitude has greatly diminished. Also in daily behaviour, it is rare nowadays to see a young person leave his place in the bus for and elder person.

It appears to me they have nothing to say of value and rely on a litany of garbage. Thank you for reading my work. I agree with you wholeheartedly I respect you - you should respect me.

Justi,I always feel
do unto me the way I do unto you.(just to misquote the bible)So if I treat you with respect,no matter what your age or status, I expect the same from you. Most of the time my friendly ,respectful attitude does the trick but on occasion Ive met with such sewermouths I cannot believe my ears.

I believe the secret is in what adults will approve of. I taught freshman college. I didn't have to put up with one bit of it. I raised three children did not have to put up with it. I am appaled at the parents who do. But it is their home; however, it goes outside as you say where they walk the streets.

I never had to face a lot of filth with my children. It just would not fly.

There is nothing demeaning about a person being on a different side of a situation from another. It is only in how they express it. Thank you so much for your comment.

I guess they don't care what that does to people. If people could not disagree appropriately there would be none ot the progress we have made in the last 500 years. It is amazing to me.

Outside of Blogit and walking the streets where teens walk the language is terrible the f word this f word that.  Its just everyday language for so many these days, and where do they learn these words not just from the street but from their own living rooms from their own parents.  I hate the f word but my kid uses it in every sentences she speaks, in this case she gets it from the people she hangs out with

I don't like to fight
Potty mouths either, try to think things through before reacting. However when some one attacks like that, I retaliate..in some fashion. My children knew better then to talk bad to me and I knew better to talk back to my folks..

A good majority of the American population grow up hurling verbal insults at their siblings and close friends when mom and dad are not in earshot.  Look at the comic Snoopy and the Charley Brown crowd for an example.  The problem is that some people never grow up and never learn to express themselves in a way that can both disagree and be proper at the same time.

Yes I know this is true. There was a time when those loud ones were not in the fore-front of all that is. I appreciate your reading my posts and commenting.

I think I hear you saying you are giving in kind. I am really talking about that one that gave it to you in the first place. People who come on like gang busters about anything they do not like. Be blessed. I am sorry about your father. You were only a teen that would be difficult.

a sense of propriety, good manners, civility - they're still to be found! It's just that the others are so much louder by definition...

I'll be totally honest - I would never be vulgar with you or hurl gratuitous insults at you - but if somone does it to me, even though I love and respect my mother (my beloved father died of cancer in 1984), and the noble way they raised me, I'm going to give it right back to them - I just can't resist.
