Hallo Lustorlove--thanks for popping in and responding to my poems.
I'm not sure-but for ME-I believe that mine was not so much 'loving someone'-but 'needing' someone-creating a dependancy upon them? I've only very recently discovered that!Chris.

Hallo Neil----what can I say except --Thank You! Both for your comment and
your poem! You really are right you know-I AM almost the other side of regrets! I can feel that. I have read your poem 4 times already and each time your words add a little more clarity for me. I THINK I'm getting the hang of it! I know I will read it-many times over until it completely ressonates with my mind! Thank you again-shalomfromchris.

Indeed, with if's and but's it's always in the air.
But it's good to dream.

Chris--Bonus gr8 for pondering.I welcome yr sharing--& it is not easy for U
and some readers to see so much aching and pain. But U showed u have the strength to overcome; almost on the other side of regret now, with yr therapist's help. I hope to discuss IFS and BUTS with U after I think more on my reaction to this thoughtful poem. Meanwhile...
The Devil’s Complaint
When you are the bad guy, you get a black hat
But what do I get: a trident, two horns, and tail!
I am supposed to be all-powerful, red and black
Confession: I am white, you know. A fallen angel!
And yes, I did earn my wings, and still
I was reprimanded, not rewarded like the rest
Because it is said I have too much ambition;
Now, wouldn’t that make me almost American?
As for being all-powerful, that’s a laugh -
Nay more, it sends me into hysterics…
Like the lion describing the giraffe
I may have a long reach, some jolly antics
But if I am more powerful than Anyone,
Especially the One that condemned me;
Then many of you may have it all wrong -
Asking for help from my weaker adversary!
People use and abuse my name, mix it with “Saddamn”
People cheat my adversary: succeed with greed
and every other deception neither foresaw or planned -
Like Income Tax evasion, credit card and bank fraud!
…In the beginning, it was a basic existence;
No computers, no Wall Street, no Chinese Veto …
All I did was clamor for wings. That’s persistence
you advocate; Or don’t you wish to fly to Mars and Pluto?

Hi Tony--thanks for dropping by and commenting.
I guess I've been in a stage of 'reflecting back' for a little while now.It's not until someone like yourself and proc etc.make your response that everything becomes clearer! So thank you for that. Have a good weekend.Chris.

This is such a deep poem.Why do we always second guess orselves and the choices we make?Iwas just thinking life really is a cliche.Like your poem has nuances of the following:The grass is greener on the other side(if only)Astitch in time saves nine(why didnt I take the opportunity)Procrastination is the thief of time.And on regret:Theres no use crying over spilt milk.....................
