At their ages, someone should have been bringing them Meals on Wheels to the courthouse.

enjoy the season of cherry blossoms; they'll be gone in about a week-10 days. Imagine! A festival here in Washington DC next week, before they pass their peak. Shalomfromneil

I actually remember hearing some of this from you..not the haunting part, but the part about your parents.
How creepy about the rest.

I'm glad to hear that you got fed after that, and all that rattling and prattling wasn't for nothing.

Actually, SunnyOne, it was a nightmare. I lived in the Twilight Zone. For real. It was beyond bizarre. My mother was (is) insane. (Literally) My father, while physically present, was 'absent' for my entire life. The house I lived in was 'haunted'. They (the spooks) used to walk around in my room at night (really loud), sit on my bed (you could feel the bed move under their pressure), etc.  I'll just stop now. MoonSpirit

I too at one time ate the convict food slipped from under the cage upon rattling and prattleling.

Moon...
LMAO
I truly hope that you had a better childhood than mine.
I guess the fact that I was an only child may have had something to do with the reason she didn't feel it was necissary...who knows.

I don't know what was her problem...lazy...depressed? Who knows.
When I was real young, it was eaiser..as my grandmother lived right beside us and would make me cheerios and pb&j and such...but when we moved away when I was 9... I just went hungry a lot of the time.
I ate the school lunch during the school year.
My mom would provide things like chips and dip, etc...but as anyone knows, that provides no nutritional value, and still leaves one starved...and you can only eat so many chips if you are truly hungry.

BTW
Is it okay to take the crystal out of the salt water now? It's been soaking since you told me to put in there.

We always got fed at my house - eventually. All we had to do was to rattle our cages and sooner or later someone would slide a tray under the door.  MoonSpirit

No child should ever be hungry in the United States...there is no reason for it. I am sorry your mother didn't cook...how did you ever eat? My Gawd if I didn't cook for my kids ..and I mean meat and potato and veggie everynight I had better have been on my death bed. I can't imagine someone NOT COOKING for their children..Did she ever try any out reach programs?

I know what you mean.  It's just so hard sometimes.
I've spent a lot of my childhood being hungry...for the fact that my father was never home, and my mother wouldn't cook.  So I feel really bad if I see someone hungry.

I'm one of those people that if I see someone standing with a sign "will work for food", I will drive through McDonalds and bring them something, or if I'm going into the supermarket, I will bring them some bread and milk, etc.

I feel bad that they were probably hungry
But there is a law against stealing. Years ago I worked at a little Italian restaurant and there was a family that lived behind the place. This family would come in every week for a hand out. I was easy...it was just pasta ya know? Actually I was the one stealing..it wasn't my pasta to give away..
