Ever see that old television series with Tom Hanks? "Bosom Buddies" it was called. I can't help think of it everytime I see you somewhere, because Tom always sidled up to his secret crush (played by Donna Dixon) with a goofy smile singing, "Sunny, Sunny, Sunny, Sunny..."

Nice meeting you as well!
(I assume this emoticon is an outstretched hand of sorts. If not, well pretend it is!) I can kind of understand where she was coming from, not feeling a writer until her fourth book got out. I didn't feel "all grown up" until I had kids (was 30 yrs old)! I will be sure to keep an eye out for that short story!

Interesting because I was having a conversation on Blogit just the other day on this topic. I'm going to pull out a short story I wrote years ago and post it in a few days. While I studied under Toni Morrison at Princeton, I asked her when she felt she was a writer, and she said not until her fourth book was published. I was really surprised. If you're composing stories, creative journal entries, etc.
you're a writer. If you're covering news events or interviewing people for publication in newspapers or magazines you're a reporter / columnist. If you're writing fiction - novels, short stories, etc. and they are published - you're an author. If you're blogging and chatting and passing the time of day, visiting online -- you're talking in print.
I don't know how others think, but that's how it seems to me.

Any one who loves to write is a writer .
When he /she is read and loved to be read he is a popular writer . when anyone is read by few and understood by few he is a great writer . When any one is read by none but he /she loves to write he /she is still a writer so long he she loves to write . Good post .
