"People always say what are you, are you an ass man or you leg man or a tit man?" I guess I'm an ass man, cause guys always come up to me and say 'You're an ass, man!'" Rodney Dangerfield.

Cunning, obviously, we've made asses of ourselves for far too long!
Okay, it wasn't very good.
But, it was better than what first came to mind! MoonSpirit

Mr. Linguist...
Cunning, no doubt. Some of the common stuff in Prime Time would have pickled Ozzie Nelson's pecker, if you get my drift. Nowdays, I'm quite sure it is mandatory to have a "nut" joke at least twice in every episode of 2 1/2 Men. 2.5 Men for the fractionally impaired. And if you watch cable, say Dirt, there is almost nothing they don't say. Personally, I worry, but I also love it. Call me bi polar, but I've never been to either pole.

C'mon Dover, move your bloomin' arse!
My Fair Lady(1964)
I guess the movies got away with more than TV.
BTW, Pat Paulsen had a hilarious editorial on censorship.

The earliest instance of risque language on Australian TV was back in the early 70s when a famous late night show host, Graham Kennedy, did a crow impersonation "faaaaark... faaaaark" I think he was fired the next morning. It was a most accurate impersonation mind you.

I've noticed the same thing. Pretty soon you'll hear "shit" on Law and Order. But you know, I think NYPD Blue used "asshole" a lot and got away with it.
