The hierarchy of needs
Of course you are right, the majority of you Americans and us Europeans lead priviledged lives, but that does not negate the validity of 'whineing'. Just because we have roofs over our heads and money in our wallets does not mean that we should not demand more. It is this innate human quality that has driven human advancement and brought us to this comfortable level of living standards. And now that our material needs are catered for we can turn our energies to improving the spiritual and intellectual side of our existence. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs dictates that this is perfectly natural human behaviour. And if Martin Luther hadn't 'whined' about the Catholic Church there would have been no Reformation and consequently no Protestant Church upon whose foundations and principles America is founded. So perhaps a little whineing is not always so bad...? Although, claiming "Death to America" is simply idiotic.

I just knew someone would blame it on the Democrats
They're the popular whipping boy.
Thanks for the post Corbin, people do need a reminder of just how good they have it. It is because we have it so good that we must insist more from our government when it comes to how they treat the rest of the world.
Being thankful for our blessings and still being anti-war is not some kind of oxymoron. If we cannot find a way to solve the problems of the 21st Century without resorting to war, the we will go the way of the Roman Empire.

We are as blessed as we are because in the past we did something about our problems other than complain. Complaining is a Democrat's entertainment, ask AL Gore.

I agree with you.
Whenever I hear someone whining about the "good old days" I tell them, "You want the good old days back? Go turn your air-conditioner off."
