Leading by example...
Is not only wise, it shows the "leader" is personally commited. One is much more likely to remember a kind act done in person than something a celebrity said on TV.

The people who have made the biggest difference in my life
have done so simply by being who they are. No big bangs, no confetti, just being themselves.

I agree.Angelina Jlie gets all this attention for adopting multiple kids
yet other ordinary people are doing exceptional jobs raising their kids teaching them good moral values so they become responsible citizens in society. They are the unsung heroes.

You make a good point. I think listening to people is underrated and makes a huge difference.

it's the duty of the press to blow things out of proportion.

It is the little things done by people every day. .
that make a difference: a teacher who lifts a student up, a stranger who smiles at another and causes the to smile, taking out an elderly neighbor's trashcans, feeding a pet, getting dressed and leaving the house with as positive an attitude as possible.
But I buy "People" magazine and US weekly like many people. Celebrities are our mount Olympus, interesting and fallible "deities." Some are smart, interesting and responsible, some are shallow and lead meaningless lives. Same goes for those of us in the real world.
