Thank you for your beautiful comment. It is wonderful to hear of your grandparents and to realize your appreciation and sensitivity to their longevity and to their spirit.  You have made my day by writing and sharing your thoughts and sending best wishes to us. What a gift.  And I hope your St. Patrick Day was blessed.  Thanks for dropping by.

Lou,
It's great that you have such a positive outlook on life. I have a great grandmother who is set to turn 102 in July, and she basically shared the sentiment George Burns had, that you mentioned in your post. Sure she can't get around quite like she used to, but her mind is still very sharp and she enjoys all the time she spends with family and she feels blessed to have lived such a long and joyous life, and for being able to be a part of the lives of so many people, now for more than a century! My grandfather (dad's father) just turned 89 earlier this month, which is especially amazing given he was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer about 10 years ago now. At the time of his diagnosis, doctors told him at best he'd have 5 years, but he remained optimistic and in turn he beat cancer and he's already exceeded the time he was told he'd have, and he's not ready to call it quits yet, either. He and my grandmother (she is 87) have travelled four or five times a year every year since they retired many years ago, and they still have many places to visit, which helps keep them going, but also, they love spending time with family, and that has helped them live such longer and prosperous lives as well.

I wish you all the best with your wedding and in life. Some people aren't lucky enough to have the freedom of mind to be happy with their lives, so cherish the gift you've been given and undoubtedly you will help the people around you to get in touch with their inner optimist as well. It truly can be contagious. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
