MsV,
Don't fret over those sorry excuses for people that you call co-workers. Work is cutt-throat and you're probably better off being away from them anyhow. They sound like inconsiderate a**holes to me, anyhow, and those kinds of people badmouth everyone as it is, so by not going out with them, you probably missed out on nothing more than being a part of the group that talked trash about whoever wasn't standing nearby at the time. I've always considered myself to be a very nice person, who always treats others with respect, and what I've learned in life is that people like me, who act that way, will always get trampled on by the people who know they can't compete with that sort of kindness and compassion, so they instead opt to try to break our spirits and make us miserable like them. I still prefer to be the nice guy and I give everyone plenty of chances to stay on my good side, but slowly, but surely, I'm learning that it is okay to tell some people to go to hell every now and then, and I'm starting to find the inner strength to stand up for myself far more, so if I feel like I'm being screwed over now, I call people out on it and say, "what's the deal?"...whereas in the past, I'd have just kept my distaste over what happened to myself and shown no signs on the surface that anything was wrong. The fact that you showed that you were emotionally distraught and not a single person you work with came by to see if you were okay is enough to tell me they're not worth your time, anyway. I say basque in the freedom of having your own private space, and if they try to screw you over more...take a Swingline off your bosses desk, and burn the sucker down, then retire on the beach drinking Margaritas, paid for with Traveler's Checks...you'd have to change your name to Milton though. (You've seen "Office Space"...right?)

Tell the organizer, "not that it matters but I wasn't invited, you know".  Tell the boss, "I had already arranged to have that desk....not that it matters".

I am sooo sorry that a bunch of adults would treat you as they do.

Certainly sounds like a bunch of teenage games to me. How tragically sad.

Pour yourelf a glass of wind and soak in a nice hot tub. Hugs to You!!!!

Just as my life felt like it was falling apart I started reading "The Secret" you might want to check it out because if nothing else it helps you feel better.
