Mothers mean well...
...but sometimes they are frustrating! Oh well, I suppose they'd say the same thing about daughters.

As for the dating website thing, if you go to mate1.com, women get a free subscription. I did it for a little while, and the quality of the guys was about the same as on any dating website--some sketchy characters, some who actually seemed up front. Good luck if you try that...oh, and I would probably write the letter how you said you were thinking about doing it...just be mature and act like nothing went wrong. If you write an entire letter apologizing or something, you're going to seem like an obnoxious weirdo.

If you think of other things to add, I would... and you never know. I know what you mean about your mom... mine always tells me to enjoy the process but I think she's just forgotten how stressful it can be. Good luck.

I don't know about the USA, but here in Belgium there are books in which you can learn how to properly write a letter, conduct an interview, ... It's also part of the lessons I teach to my adults: how to aplly for a job and be succesful. One of them got the job!!!!
