SuccessWarrior - well yeah, a point the irrational thinkers amongst us seem
not to understand.
Many of the things they utilize to back their contentions or opinions are invisible. They only "know" these things to be real because they can throw a rock and hit a dozen or so others that "know" they are real.

Everyone is probably a little bit crazy
but on the scale of things, people that believe what can be seen and proved whould probably be more toward the sane side.

Emotions can certainly
cloud one's judgment. I'm not exactly sure that someone can make an argument for/against something without referencing belief. However, belief can be poorly founded/supported. Gomedome you are, of course, always welcome to comment on my blogs (should you read them) whether we agree or not.

Ciel - again I will mention that I am trying to avoid direct references to
any of my recent antagonists in comments.
(There, I said it) . . . This however is a classic line: "People who argue from their emotions and beliefs don't add anything of value to a discussion."
I absolutely agree. There is a real world out there to deal with, fictional worlds seldom ever work out for those who subscribe to them.

David1Spirit -this post was about saying my piece but not going any further
I did not want the comments to degenerate to references of anyone specific but I completely agree with everything you have said. I do not consider any of my recent protagonists as objects of humor but entirely as objects of pity. If they cannot understand the basics of societal expectations inherent in our responsibilities as members of a free society, they are pityable. They want to sell this type of one way deal as being derived from a life guiding religious precept? Hoo boy . . . some guidance.

Of course, this coin in contention has a flip side, too--
The general dynamic of discussion you deplore here is as pointless and futile when it is a theist decrying the atheists, or an atheist decrying the theists: it is "right by virtue of how strongly I feel about it" and rarely based in real fact, scholarship, understanding, logic or thought.
People who argue from their emotions and beliefs don't add anything of value to a discussion.
I also saw that exchange, and understood your frustration.

That blogger and his (SCREAMING POST) aren't worth the time to respond to
I love when people do that; just spew out opinions disguised as facts. Rarely can they substantiate their claims, and in their mind they think they have some sort of right to do so. I guess they call it "doing God's work".
But then again, based on the actions of 2000 years of misguided folk "doing God's work"; posts like that shouldn't surprise us at all. They (all 100% of them hahaha) are like that.

Talion - I feel the same way - there are some posts or opinions found
within them that are just not worthy of comment.
Looking back, I don't know if I would have bothered commenting at all if not for the fact that the post contained an element that was attempting to refute a prior post of mine.

I think I stumbled upon that post recently. I read it, but thought it unworthy of commenting. It fell under the old "guilty until proven innocent" scenario. This is supposedly what atheists/unbelievers are and it's up to them to prove otherwise. And reagardless of what anyone expresses, at the end of the day, 100% of athiests will remain "crazies." Why bother? Occasionally I'm inspired enough to give my opinions on such matters, but I don't make a habit of explaining myself to strangers.
