TAPS-
That shocked me as well.  Bernard was lucky to have had a big guy there who was watching out for him and could pick him up out of there, out of harm's way, whether he wanted help or not.  My nurse said the same thing about PD fallers.  She had just returned from a conference on PD in which there were many patients in attendance, and she would see them falling right in front of her, and they would refuse help and say, "I'm all right," and get up and start walking again.  Independence is such a hard thing to hand in. Impossible for some. My 93 year old dad who could barely see always bemoaned the fact that he couldn't get his driver's license renewed.

I can't imagine that door being the only way in and out, especially at a hospital.  I have known two different people, a man and a woman, who were badly beleagered with the freezing.   They both were fighters and didn't want help.  It was so frustrating watching them in their efforts and not being able to do anything to make a difference.

Hi .Dave.
I used to take a swim by myself until I heard of one woman who had her first freezing episode while swimming by herself.  A neighbor happened to see her and fished her out.  It wasn't her "time" to check out.  Yes, Bernard will never have the brain surgery I had (not sure why) but he's quite a fighter.  Old Man Parkinson's can only defeat the body but never the spirit! Yeah!

Thanks for the comment!!

I'd not heard of that 'freezing' aspect before.
The fortitude shines through, though.
