Not my favorite, either, but I like it enough to comment - "turning an insult into a joke like an alchemist," the way you described Dick playing the piano, and, of course, the last line...Ah, the mind of modernboz.
Too much character or not enough explanation of Little Buxom.
I really just need some more melting objects and blinking sadness -
