You remind me of an aspiring fisherman who at last got himself a fishing rod and threw his line ... I enjoy reading you, you write well and you are doing what your heart desires. That is wonderful ... and like the fisherman you will not know if you are going to cath a big fish, a small one or none at all, until you throw the line. And if no fish is caught today, come back and keep comming back. I think you are doing the right thing. Best wishes.
