I wrote a story about online dating for a newspaper I used to work for. It isn't as awkward as it might seem. Way more couples than you'd imagine met that way. I couldn't believe it once I started getting responses. I used to think mostly socially inept people did it, but really, the internet is a growing community. It is a good tool to be used, maybe all the MEN are hiding in cyberspace ;) hehe The one good thing about it, is it allows you to go as fast or slow as you want. It could be a good thing especially if you are just testing the waters and not sure about jumping in right away. If you want to meet them right away, no problem, if you don't, you can wait. The only bad thing about waiting is there is a certain physical chemistry that just can't be felt through the Internet. Even if you have great chats, if that "thing" isn't there you might not know. As far as specific sites, I did some research for my article I'd be happy to share if you want to e-mail me through blogit, I'll e-mail you back :) If you are just curious, most sites let you poke around a bit without buying a membership or anything. If you do decide to go ahead with the online dating, I have all sorts of advice from the administrators of the sites on how to get the best match etc, so let me know and I'll pass that all along. I haven't tried it myself but I did set up a couple of test profiles to test the theories so I know they are right about most of the ideas. I hope all goes well with you.

If you don't feel like dating then don't date. Give yourself time and space to do your own thing and have fun doing it. Without wanting to sound like a salesman.. next time you're in a bookshop have a look at Julia Cameron's
The Artist's Way.

Kat
I have to tell ya I have been doing the online dating for a while now. I have met some nice men and some real jerks. Sometimes I think about giving up but since I don't go to bars and night clubs I don't have much choice. There is a free dating site called PlentyofFish. You could try it for a couple weeks...no harm in finding new friends unless you are completely burnt out...
