You've not yet presented anything to me here to go against the general idea of my post.

The power of prayer to focus yourself on what needs to be done is fine (If that is what you need to clear your head) and I even talked about it in my post.  But just praying or meditation on something does not get results. Action is needed.  Alone or with a group a I truly know of not one time where prayer along is what made the difference.  Yet I have many, many times seen where actions along does make a difference.

I really don't think that you would after a one time event.  It is a cumulative thing that goes along with daily reading of God's Word and meditation on it.  The most important thing is what you often write about, how ones lives their life on a day to day basis.

Yes, I am talking about the group prayer thing.

Although I have seen people pray on their own and I've seen nothing special about them afterwards.

I can only assume that you are referring to a public/church setting or on TV since ones prayer "closet" is usually personal and private.  There is quite a bit of difference when one is alone with God or when a prayer "group" is just two or three gathered together, in which case God promises to be there in the midst of them.

I've seen some very scary things related to prayer.  In fact I have never seen anyone seem to raise up from kneeling to pray and seem happier or have a glow about them ,but I have seen people look much worse after praying, as if they put all their energy into the prayer and end up weaker for it.

Your post here makes me wonder just a bit how many Christians that you know well enough to be familiar with their prayer life and prayer habits.  I wonder if you have actually seen them on their knees praising God for his mercy and goodness, giving thanks in all things, claiming God's promises, interceding, seeking wisdom.  I wonder if you have ever seen a face aglow from being alone in the presence of God and communing only with him.   I wonder.

gomey said something about that -- so did Ben Franklin
"God helps those who help themselves."

but seriously, prayer is like Jesus said about god, it rains on Christian and unChristian alike -- like Paul said, no respecter of persons.

I believe in something beyond our senses.  I think I have had my wants met, wishes fulfilled, through this extra-sensory whatever.

And yet, when you look at Christians who thank god when things go well for themselves, then are silent when things go badly -- maybe, you think, they aren't looking at things accurately.
