those Christians can't take criticism
or questioning of their cherished beliefs, no matter how out of the mainstream they might be.

belief systems are built up over time, take on the mantle of tradition, then are hard to break away from for many.  just read the blogs.  they cannot see anything other than their own beliefs.  not outside Christianity or inside.  so we have one body and one Christ huh?  -- like fish -- we have hundreds.

but you express doubts about any of them and you are labeled a hater of all Christians.

Christian extremists -- Moslem extremists -- any extremist -- no difference.

kooka_lives - I think the persecution complex we see demonstrated for us by

some religious groups begins at an early age.

When I was back in a religious primary school we would sit and listen to the nuns tell stories of how those mean old Romans would feed Christians to the lions. They would blather on about how difficult it was to be a Christian back then, proclaim your faith and the next thing you know you are lion food. I was under the impression back then that the Romans fed their lions nothing but Christians. Boy was I surprised to learn that all political dissidents, criminals, enemies of the state, or just about any poor smuck from any group that was disliked or held in contempt by the majority could be treated the same way and fed to the lions. There is no mistaking the underlying intention of these errors of omission, as the stories were used to demonstrate for us how Christians have been historically persecuted. I wonder if all of the other people who became lion food felt persecuted as well?
