Thanks for you comments. I would argue however that God, in instilling us with free will has made us the sovereign masters of ourselves and our destiny. If we choose to yield, and submit our will to his that's one thing...but the choice to do so is ours.

Alf, I enjoyed this post.
It seems you’ve described moments of epiphany here. Your vivid analogy of your skull being pulled back as the roof of an observatory is exemplary in your description of seeing the concept of life in its magnitude and complexity. It reminded me of going to Seattle to see 2001 - A Space Odyssey. (Sometime around ‘68, I think). I was lying on my back on the floor watching the universe unfolded in 3-D around me, but rather than feeling miniscule or insignificant, I remember feeling connected.
The extra sense you’ve described where all senses come together; I believe just as a blind person will develop acute hearing capabilities or the ‘radar’ ability of bouncing sound off of objects to determine height & depth by ‘clicking’ (another interesting topic), is developed through practice. I believe we can practice this extra sense through prayer and meditation by removing what I believe to be, the only barriers separating one human from another; self, ego, judgment, fear and expectation.
Being a student enthralled in anatomy, I agree we are each a miraculous universe physiologically unique. I also believe we are unique according to our awareness. I believe our depth of awareness dictates how we spend our lives; whether based upon self, ego, judgment, fear and expectation or upon our God-given potential, all egos aside.
I believe we are not sovereign unto ourselves. We are connected as the body of Christ and God is the head. God is Holy and sovereign. Just my beliefs.

I have those times too. The other day I was watching something on TV in which a dr was holding a human heart and talking about all of the things that it does. That got me to thinking about my own heart, and my brain, and the miracle that is life - just breathing, walking, talking and all that goes into just making that happen. This, in turn, made me think about what dying will feel like, and what my life means. Those times can become a little daunting and I start to yearn for those moments when I just want nothing more than to eat, drink, sleep, laugh and poop!

as if my skull is pulled back like the roof on an observatory , I have those moments from time to time – space and time is non existent and it’s like a huge epiphany overcomes me and I truly understand the Universe and the Spirit that fuels me. Those are beautiful moments are you wrote of it so very well…..
