Way to go! You're actually going to do it! You know, considering the few writing samples I have seen you post, I'm perfectly sure that the only thing that is keeping you from being published is YOURSELF. You're right, you probably might want to say away from Yellow. It just doesn't seem like your color!
I'm anxious to hear when your first story is accepted!!

More stories! I've already got a couple more in progress and am having fun with them! Funny, my stories seem to run in themes. I'm into witches now.

Go get 'm!
Unfortunately, I'm just a Spring green amateur here who hasn't had a thing published yet. When my first story gets published, I'm going to throw a huge party. Then, I'll allow myself to get picky! Call it ego - I just want to be able to say that I'm a published writer! HA!
Very good tip, however! I will be sure to carry a very large magnifying glass with me!

we seem to have an inexhaustible supply of "excuses" that are really no more than expressions of our fears. But you finally pushed through. Now, as you wait all those ridiculous weeks for a reply, what will you be working on next?

Personally, I am fed up with magazines
I have this annoying habit of reading the fine print and discovering little tidbits about how my story somehow becomes THEIR property. Say Wha????!!!! I don't THINK SO!
So, once the QDRO is done and I can liquidate my retirement, I am using the small amount left over to finance the the book design and printing of an earlier work. The game plan is to use whatever is recouped to finance doing the same with more recent writings, one book at a time. Everything past the recoup/breakeven point on each book is profit, hopefully I start to see that. Anything non-topical, non-throwaway-trash is conceived then as being part of a book. Ergo, the magazines will only see the topical, throwaway trash that I don't mind selling away all my rights to.
