I think I ate there once, years ago...
I recall a bitter older woman who sat down with me and told me how horrible everyone in her life was to her... By the end of my sandwich, I, who normally observe but do not throw judgments at people's faces, told her I understood perfectly why they had all abandoned her, she was the meanest spirited, most vitriolic person I had ever met... and I stalked off.
Your post reminds me of Jean Griardoux's play, THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT, in which several of his characters are the Madwomen of various districts of Paris-- each district has its own Madwoman, and each is a valid and integrel part of the social ecology. But his were mainly dotty old women, and very smart in their own ways.
